ORRA's first foreclosure workshop draws concerned homeowners

A crowd of about 100 showed up at ORRA’s first free foreclosure-prevention workshop for homeowners, held last night at Timber Creek High School.

The workshop was the initial in a series produced by ORRA, which was awarded a $5,000 grant from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) in support of the program. ORRA is matching the grant with its own funds, and the Central Florida Real Estate Council is contributing $500 toward each workshop.

Last night’s event featured speaker Cathy McDaniel, author of A Road Map To Saving Your Home, who addressed questions such as:

*What happens when I miss a mortgage payment?
*
How does mortgage foreclosure work?
*What are my alternatives?

Lisa Ford, Monica Velez, and Kevin
Thorner were among the legion of
ORRA members who volunteered.

The presentation also included a panel of attorneys provided by CFREC.

Afterwards, homeowners were welcomed to mingle with the attorneys, REALTORS®, and housing professionals who were on hand to answer individual questions. ORRA even had a group of Spanish-speaking volunteers available to assist with language.

ORRA next foreclosure-prevention workshop for homeowners is scheduled to take place in the Hunter's Creek area. Stay tuned for a time and location.
